Ladies Section News

15 June 2011

Ladies have braved the weather and have been lucky enough to have played all but one of the scheduled competitions.

Heather, Mary and myself, braved one of the stormiest days to play in the Blairmore Ladies Open.   This was the first time Blairmore had held this Open and we were pleased to give our support.    Although difficult to keep clubs and players upright on the extremely exposed course, Heather clinched first place and I was runner up.

On Saturday 11 June, we set off for our awayday at Dalmally.  Beautiful morning, not a cloud in the sky.   We arrived and enjoyed coffee and bacon rolls before setting out for our first 9 holes.   The clouds started to roll in and around the 5th, the heavens opened.   Having been optimistic in the morning, most of us had left our waterproofs and umbrellas in the cars, so some very wet lady golfers called into the clubhouse for coffee and scones before setting out on the second 9 holes.     I have to mention that Maureen was so wet when she came back in, we hardly recognised her.    Sheila did offer to give her a hug, but changed her mind as Maureen was too wet.    Despite the weather we all had a good day, we all enjoyed the golf and the home baking even more.   Many thanks to Dalmally ladies for their hospitality.

Lady Captain
