ROYAL HOTEL TROPHY

After 3 days of constant rain we had 42 foolhardy players brave the elements to take part in The Royal Hotel Trophy. Early conditions proved very trying, with real heavy showers and constant drizzle, making play almost impossible. It was a testament to the hard work of the Greens staff that the course was still playable under the deluge we had. A thanks to competitors from Kyles and Blairmore. who supported our MAJOR event of the golfing calendar.

An early score of 63 from John Carmichael led the nett prize till about the 3rd last group, when Tom White of Kyles managed a nett 62, when the conditions were more favourable. So well done to Tom on winning the Tom Muir Quaich.

The weather in the afternoon was slightly better and scoring was marginally lower with most of the best gross scores being recorded then.

Course record holder and Club Champion,Chris Carson lived up to the tag as favourite, with a fantastic 65 closely followed by Steve Ellis and Nipper Simpson, with 68 and 69 respectively. So well done to Chris and all other players, who took part, which made the event a success under trying circumstances.
