THE WEE FIRTH

A competition for all the clubs within the Firth of Clyde had 44 entrants for this team event.

This is a handicap event for players between 11 and 22 with three from five scores being taken towards the team score..

Nine teams took part with gusty winds and close cut greens making scoring difficult. Innellan were represented by  Willie McCosh, David Penman, Graham Black, Bertie Brown and David Hodge and looked good for the spoils.

Alas,no one told Skelmorlie Golf Club as they scored a very good total of 193.

Our boys did well and managed to score 197 for a clear 2nd place.

Kenny Malcolm from Skelmorlie won the main singles trophy with a nett 62 closely followed by  Innellan's Graham Black.

Special mention must go to Graham, who won the gross prize on offer, with a  score of 76,  two strokes ahead of anyone else.

Another mention must go to Pete Barrett, of Port Bannatyne, who aced the 11th hole and thanks for his generousity in supplying a large bottle of whisky to celebrate his achievement.
With all players commenting on the  high standard of our course, praise to the Greenstaff again.

Again thanks to Patrick, Sheila and Maureen for all their hard work, in house.

Robin, Billy,Willie and Bobby for checking and recording scorecards and making this event run as smoothly as it did again.

High praise again  from The Associated Clubs of the Firth of Clyde Committee, was well warranted.

Our club is held in high esteem, lets keep it that way.

Andy
